Hello Everyone
We started our lives on May 2 2009 and moved out to Houston Texas. Marriage has been amazing and an experience in itself. Its interesting how fast you realize the little things your spouse does that are insignificant but so annoying. For example, Garrett always tells me, "Brittany we don't have automatic doors that shut." Or when I walk in the kitchen and come to find about three cupboards wide open. But in the end that's what makes life fun. And the minute your spouse gets onto you about your annoying quirks you can throw it right by at him and then he'll stop talking or visa versa. That always works for Garrett and I. I am working at Bath and body works. I don't get to many hours but at least I am working. Garrett is working for Preventive Pest Control and is a tech and loves it! haha. He likes the job for the most part but sometimes gets sick of it. I would too, he works so hard and sometimes doesn't get home until 7. And then there is me who has been home all day and bombards him and wants him to spend all his time with me but we all know how that goes when men don't get to have time to relax. We like our ward a lot they are all so friendly and great. Garrett and I both teach in primary but not together. He teaches CTR 10 and 11. And I teach CTR 7.
I have really enjoyed it here but there has been moments where it has been a little hard. I try to Keep my breakdowns to a minimum of twice a week. Just kidding its not that often. I don't know too many people out here besides Niki and her family and thank goodness I have them. I don't know what I would do without them. It has been an interesting ride. It is hard when you get married young and are thrown into grown up world and surrounded by people who seem to have it all figured out. There is a scene in Harry Potter like I wish life would be like. When they have the hat and get to pick out a paper and tells them which house they belong to. But for us tells us what our talents are and what we would be good at and most importantly be confident and never doubt ourselves. That seems to be something that was always constant in life but even more now. I wish that I could be comfortable in my own skin and not feel intimated by everyone around me. But I think in time that will come.
It's interesting how everything you go through will challenge you but always makes you a better person. I am so grateful for the challenges that I am going through because I know the result will always be worth it. I am so grateful for all the support I have with my friends and family. I am so grateful for the support I have from my parents. They are amazing people and will do anything to help you. It is hard not having them here. I don't know how much time that will take me to get used to before they move here. But they are truly amazing and inspirational to me everyday. There words of wisdom can always help and makes you feel like everything will be okay. I love you guys and miss you! I am also so grateful for my Husband. He is an amazing man and makes me laugh and have so much fun. We went to Chilli's yesterday and had dinner together. It actually is funny we go there whenever we go out because its good and cheap but maybe we should explore our options because the same hostess was there last time we went and recognized us. I thought about it and said to myself. "I didn't think we came here that much, guess I was wrong." and to top it off we sat in the same spot as last time. Then after we went and got my ring cleaned and while driving in the car listened to Garrett's favorite song by Britney Spears "I'm not a girl" He sings that song loud and proud! And then went home and cuddled before we went to bed and were talking and then I think he was done because he said, "Will you stop talking to me, I need to go to bed." haha. It made me laugh so hard. He knows how to make me do that well. I love him so much!

You are so honest about yourself and your life. It is very refreshing! I love this post! I miss you so much and wished we lived close. Garrett is like one of my kids (cuz he says I am like a Mom to him, makes me feel really old and uncool!) Enjoy the days with just the two of you! Sometimes we wish we could go back! Your pictures are adorable! -Tara
ReplyDeleteBrittany you are so gorgeous - inside and out! I never realized how much you look like your mom when she was your age. It really took me back to when we were growing up.
ReplyDeleteCelebrate each stage of your life. Enjoy the good parts and learn from the rough ones. You will move into a new stage soon enough and you'll wonder how the time has flown by.
We love you and wish we lived closer to you. You should join our recipe blog that Diana started, it's a lot of fun. I sent you and invite.
Love, Shelley

ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet! I'm glad that you're enjoying being married. I need to meet Garrett. I miss ya bunches! Maybe we'll make a trip to Houston sometime...
You were so gorgeous on your wedding day! (wish I could've been there!) I hope you know how special you are. I know you might get discouraged, but I hope you know how talented and amazing you are even if you might not feel like it sometimes. It's just a matter of discovering who you are and what you do best, and then enhancing your good qualities! I love you!
Love, Jessica
